My Favourite Book Essay

We know that books are our best friends. They play a very important role in our life. They are food for our minds. They console us sorrow and make us forget the worries of life.

Geeta is my favourite book of all the books. The Bhagavad Gita teaches Hindus how to live in the world. I like this book most. It is a holy book of the Hindus. It is my true guide and a never-failing friend. I love to read it every morning. It stores great knowledge, wisdom and virtue. It tells me the importance of self – effort, devotion to duty and good actions. It teaches me that good wins over evil in the long run. I follow all the teaching of Gita. It gives me peace of mind and true happiness.

The Bhagavad Gita says that the mind is changeable because of the activity of the senses and the changeable mind is an enemy of the self. The mind can be stabilized by self-control, getting rid of desire by getting rid of the sense objects, living in solitude and by keeping one's mind on God. As Krishna says, "when a man is not the lord of his soul then this becomes his enemy".

According to Geeta, the world in which we live is known as an illusion. Due to selfishness we bind ourselves to this world. Geeta says that people remain chained to the cycle of births and deaths. It teaches us how a person can complete his duty in this world and still remain free from the result of his actions. One main teaching of The Bhagavad Gita is about one's hidden soul. In everyone there is a real and hidden soul that is different from the external self. We all should realize this difference between the outer soul and the inner soul. To do this, we must establish a stable mind, dispose of sense organs then we will understand what is soul.

We can imagine the importance of Geeta It has been translated into many languages of the world. The Hindus believe that if it is read at the time of death, it brings salvation. I respect the Gita for its moral philosophy and true guidance. Besides Hindu religion Gita is known as a great work of Sanskrit literature. It is the basis of Indian thought. The great personalities of India like Mahatma Gandhi have been inspired by this great book.
