The full name Mahatma Gandhi was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He was born on 2 October 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat. People lovingly called ‘Bapu’ is popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi. He received his initial education at home and was profoundly affected by his parents.
Mahatma Gandhi was a shy, quiet boy in his childhood. He was considered an average student. He did not have any exceptional qualities. Like the rest of us, Gandhi wasn’t right. He experienced almost all bad habits such as smoking, stealing and eating meat. He got married to Kasturba and later on had four children.
Gandhi was sent to England for higher studies. He studied law and in 1891 was called to the Bar. He came back to India and started his legal practice but could not succeed as a lawyer.
