The postman is a very important part of our daily life. The main work of a postman is to move door to door and delivers the post like letters, telegrams, parcels, money orders and gifts. He moves door to door on motorcycle, cycle, or on foot to deliver his letters.
The postman is a government servant. He is a worker of the Post and Telegraph Department. He puts on a uniform. His uniform is khaki. He hangs a bag in his neck. He keeps his letters, parcels, money orders, telegrams and gifts in his bag. He sorts out the letters and post of his area to be delivered. He then puts stamps all the letters. Then he goes out to deliver the post.

To work as a postman is not easy. He works hard for the whole day. He starts his day by reporting at the office by 9 o’clock sharp. He signs the register and gets down to the business of the day. He has to move from door to door to deliver letters. Even he has to work at night to deliver telegrams. He has to move in every season and weather. He has to go out in the rainy season, biting chill and hot summer. He has to move on unmetalled roads and has to cross muddy fields. He has to pass through deserts and forests and other hostile places. Sometimes, a postman loses his life due to snake bite or severity of weather like a heat stroke.
Generally, the postman is honest and laborious. But some postmen are not devoted to their duties. They are careless. They do not deliver the posts to proper addresses. They do not put letters in the letterboxes kept outside the houses and throw them somewhere else, these letters are missed or torn by the children. People have to suffer a lot due to their careless behaviour.

In spite of his difficult work, he gets a small salary. His salary is very small as compared to his work. He has limited holidays. When we enjoy the holidays he is busy with his works. He has to work a lot during the festival and marriage season. He does not earn enough money to give a good education to his children. His whole life is spent in poverty. Sometimes, kind people give him money as a gift, he became very happy. We also should be kind and sympathetic to him. The government also should do something to make changes in the life of the postman.
