My Favourite Game Essay

Cricket is my favourite game. Cricket had started as a child’s game. This game’s origins can be traced to the 16th century. Cricket was first played in the sheep grazing lands of South East England. I like it very much. I enjoy playing cricket and watch too. I play this game at my school also. Having finished all classes I play cricket with my classmates daily.



I am on our school team and I really enjoy playing for our school. I open innings for our school’s team. If we talk about the aspects of cricket, I like all the aspects of the game-batting, fielding and bowling. I mostly like taking catches and diving to stop the boundaries at the time of fielding. I bowl sometimes. But I enjoy batting very much in all aspects of cricket. I am also the vice-captain of my school team. Recently, In the inter-school tournament, our school had won the trophy and I had contributed 68 runs in my team’s score.

Our coach is helping us very much. He is very hardworking too. I practice daily with my friends from 6 AM to 8 AM in the morning and 4 PM to 5 PM in the evening. First of all, we warm up by taking a few rounds of our ground, then we do a few stretching exercises. Then we practice according to our turns-fielding, batting or bowling. I am very fond of watching the game whenever there is a live telecast on TV. Indian team is my favourite team but I also like watching the Australian and Srilankan teams. So I enjoy watching any match of the Indian team and if the other team is also one of my favourite teams, it is like a confection on the cake.




Last month, I got a chance to watch a live cricket match at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium between India and Sri Lanka. It was a great experience. I enjoyed the match very much. The great performances of captain Virat Kohli, Sehwag, Tendulkar, Dhoni, Kaif and Kumble. Virat Kohli is my favorite batsman. But the new sensation Rahane too has won the hearts of many people comprising me. India had won in the end, so our joy converted into doubled and we felt our watching the Match was even more rewarded. I hope I will get many more chances to watch live matches.
