How to use Verbs Correctly

Correct Usage of Verbs
Incorrect :
I did not answer to him. Correct :
They attacked on the house. Correct :
We shall discuss about it. Correct :
He has married with Sita. Correct :
Tom will pass in the exam. Correct :
I accept to that offer. Correct :
We are approaching to the bridge. Correct :
Note : Answer, attack, discuss, marry, pass, accept तथा approach transitive verbs हैं, इनके बाद कोई object (noun/pronoun) आता है, preposition नहीं। किन्तु marry के बाद passive voice में to लगता है–
Ram was married to Sita. (Passive)
Ram married Sita. (Active)

Incorrect :
I visited to my friend. Correct :
She reached to my house. Correct :
They climbed in the tree. Correct : or Correct :
They confuse between the noun and verb forms. Correct :
He described about what he had seen. Correct :
Note : Visit, reach, climb, confuse तथा describe transitive verbs हैं, इनके बाद कोई object आता है, preposition नहीं। किन्तु climb a tree तथा climb up a tree दोनों शुद्ध हैं।

Incorrect :
I disbelieve in it at all. Correct :
I enjoy in doing it. Correct :
I enjoyed from my freedom. Correct :
I entered in the house. Correct :
He greeted to me. Correct :
Note : Disbelieve, enjoy, enter तथा greet transitive verbs हैं, इनके बाद कोई object आता है, preposition नहीं। किन्तु believe transitive verb के रूप में प्रयुक्त हो सकता है या in के साथ। Believe in का अर्थ होता है– have faith in.

Incorrect :
He gave to me a pen. Correct :
He takes to it. Correct :
She always helps to her mother. Correct :
He joined to them. Correct :
They don’t like to him. Correct :
Note : Give, take, help, join तथा like, transitive verbs हैं, इनके बाद object आता है, preposition नहीं।

Incorrect :
We need to good food. Correct :
You should obey to your parents. Correct :
He opposes against us. Correct :
He passed from the park. Correct :
You should serve to your country. Correct :
Note : Need, obey, oppose, pass तथा serve transitive verbs हैं, इनके बाद कोई object (noun/pronoun) आता है, preposition नहीं। Pass का अर्थ 'के पास से गुजरना' होगा तो pass या pass by कहते हैं, अगर 'के बीच होकर गुजरना' होगा तो pass through कहते हैं। जैसे–
He passed through the park.

He stopped with reading. Correct :
He wants to stress on some grammatical rule. Correct :
I teach to soldiers. Correct :
He treated to her badly. Correct :
He turned at the knob. Correct :
Note : Stop, stress, teach, treat तथा turn transitive verbs हैं, इनके साथ object लगता है, preposition नहीं।

Incorrect :
I do not trust to him. Correct :
I can do it without using of a knife. Correct :
Note : Trust तथा use भी transitive verbs हैं, इनके बाद कोई object (noun/pronoun) का प्रयोग किया जाता है, preposition का नहीं।

Incorrect :
He behaved her badly. Correct :
I won’t comment what people say. Correct :
He has gone Patna. Correct :
Don’t interfere their quarrel. Correct :
Listen me now. Correct :
Note : Behave, comment, gone, interfere तथा listen intransitive verbs हैं, इनके बाद कोई preposition आता है, noun/pronoun नहीं।

Incorrect :
He was looking me. Correct :
A teacher profits long holiday. Correct :
He didn’t reply me. Correct :
It may result trouble. Correct :
She succeeded her examination. Correct :
I am waiting you. Correct :
Note : Look, profit, reply, result, succeed तथा wait intransitive verbs हैं, इनके बाद कोई noun/pronoun नहीं, वरन् कोई preposition आता है।

Incorrect :
I will ask it to him. Correct :
He will ask from me a question. Correct :
I asked you that (you) tell him your story. Correct :
I will ask to him some money. Correct :
Note : यदि हम किसी व्यक्ति से कुछ कहते हैं तो ask him/her/them इत्यादि कहते हैं; जब हम किसी से कुछ पूछते हैं तब ask him/her something (= ask him a question) कहते हैं; जब हम किसी से कुछ करने को कहते हैं तब– ask him/her to do something (= he asked me to go) कहते हैं; जब हम किसी व्यक्ति से कुछ माँगते हैं तब– ask him/her for something (= he asked me for money) कहते हैं।
