Kapil Dev Ramlal Nikhanj (Hindi: कपिल देव)

Bishambar Nath Kaushik
The famous story writer of Hindi Sri Kaushik was born at Ambala Cantt, Later on his family settled at Kanpur. Besides story and novels he used to write ‘Letters of Dubey’ which were published in monthly magazines. They are full of satire and humour.

Raja Ram Shastri
Sri Shastri worked through the Haryana folk stage for the upliftment and development of Haryana folk art. ‘Jhadufiri’ in Haryana language was his first novel.

Pt. Neki Ram Sharma
The freedom fighter of Haryana Pt. Neki Ram Sharma was born on 4th September 1887 at Kalenga village in Rohtak. In 1916 he was the member of the Swaraj Association formed by Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak. In 1920 he was appointed the Chief Secretary of divisional conference where Gandhiji visited.

In 1921-22 he was imprisoned for a year under Non-cooperation movement. Till 1925-30 he was associated with Madan Mohan Malviya and Lala Lajpat Rai. He also published a weekly magazine known as ‘Sandesh’ from Bhiwani. He was known as Haryana Keshri.


Tulsidas Sharma Dinesh

‘Bhakt-Bharti’, ‘Matwali’, ‘Meera’, ‘Shyam’, ‘Satsai’ and ‘Satyagrhi Prahlad’ are the poetic creations of the poet Tulsi-Das Sharma Dinesh of Bhiwani.

Ayodhya Prasad Goyalea
Born in Badshah village of Gurgaon Mr. Goyalea who entertained the Hindi readers with Urdu poetry remained secretary of Bhartiya Gyanpeeth for years.

Khushi Ram Sharma
The ex. State poet of Haryana was not only a great poet but was also a press reporter as well as analytical commentator, ‘Rananimantran’, ‘Guru Govind Singh’ and ‘Yoddh Charit’ are his prominent writings.

Chaudhari Devi Lal
Born in a Zamindar family in Chautala village in Sirsa district. After leaving study in 1930 he became a volunteer and was arrested in the movement of 1941-42. In 1952 he was elected M.L.A. from Congress. In 1962 again he won the election against Congress and was the leader of the opposition party. He had a great contribution in the uplift of Haryana.

Bhagwat Dayal Sharma
He was born in Beri the sub urban area. He passed M.A. from Banaras Hindu University, went to jail thrice in 1941-42 Congress movement and worked underground in 1942. He became the first Chief Minister of Haryana in 1966.

Pt. Sri Ram Sharma
Born on 1st october, 1899 at Jhajjar, Sri Sharma took part along with Gandhiji in 1921 in non-coperation movement. He was associated with all the five movements of the Congress i.e., 1922, 1930, 1932, 1941 and 1942. He was sentenced to Seven years’ imprisonment in 1923. He published a weekly magazine ‘Haryana Tilak’ in Urdu and Hindi from Rohtak in support of freedom. ‘Haryana-Ka-Itihas’ and ‘Nav-Ratan’ of Haryana were the books written by him. He died on 7th oct. 1989.

Kalpna Chawla
This well known woman of Indian origin was born at Karnal (Haryana). She was one of the seven members who flew into space by Colombia flight on 19th Nov. 1997. Thus she created a glory of being the first Indian origin woman in space travel. During this historic flight she helped to know new investigations regarding the space gravitational force. She lost her life on February 1, 2003 in the Columbia spacecraft disaster.

Santosh Yadav (Born 1969)
Dy. S.P. Indo-Tibet Border Police, is the first woman who climbed Mt. Everest (8848), twice. First on 10th May, 1992 and again on the same day in 1993. She was awarded various prizes.

Kapil Dev (Born 1959)
Cricketer as well as the all rounder player of Indian Cricket team who took 253 wickets in one-day international matches and made 5248 runs while he took 434 wickets in test matches, a record of highest-wicket taken at that time. In 1983 India won the World Cup in his captaincy.

Vijendra Singh (Born 1985)
Vijendra Singh was born on October 29, 1985 in a Hindu Jat family in Kalwas village, 5 km from Bhiwani, Haryana. At the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, he defeated Carlos Gongora of Ecuador 9-4 in the quarter final which guaranteed him a bronze medal—the first ever Olympic medal for an Indian Boxer.
