List of all 25 Sainik Schools In India 2018


The Sainik Schools are a system of schools in India, which was conceived as a way to balance the regional and class distinctions among the officer cadre of Indian Military. It was started by V K Menon in 1961. The Sainik Schools were inspired by Rashtriya Indian Military College to which goes the credit of giving India many chiefs of the armed forces and even the new public school system. Sainik Schools function along the line of public schools of England and impart good quality education, regardless of the class affiliation of the students. In these institutions, seats are reserved for children of serving defense personnel and concession is given to the wards of government officers.


There are 25 Sainik Schools, spread across the country. They are –

Schedule of the Examination : Admission test is held in January every year.

General Eligibility
 :  The boy seeking admission to class VI should have completed the 10 years of age but not completed 11 years as on 1 July of the year of admission in a recognized school. He should not have earlier appeared for Sainik School Entrance Examination for Class VI from any other centre of India.

Course and Number of Papers
 : There are two papers in the written examination. Paper I consists of Mathematical Knowledge Test and Language Ability Test (English), Paper II comprises General Intelligence Test.
