List of Sahitya Akademi Award Winners 2016


Sahitya Akademi on 21 December, 2016 announced the Sahitya Akademi Awards for the year 2016 in 24 languages.




The Sahitya Akademi Award is given each year, since 1955, by the Sahitya Akademi (India's National Academy of Letters), to writers and their works, for their outstanding contribution to the upliftment of Indian literature in each of the official languages of India.

Play: Swarajbir (Punjabi)

Essay: Nrisinghaprasad Bhaduri (Bengali)

Criticism: Aziz Hajini (Kashmiri) and Nizam Siddiqui (Urdu)

Short stories: Chahatrapal (Dogri), Shyan Darihare (Maithili), Moirangthem Rajen (Manipuri), Asaram Lomate (Marathi), Paramita Satpathy (Odia), Bulaki Sharma (Rajasthani) Vannadhasan (Tamil)

Poetry: Jnan Pujari (Assamese), Anju (Bodo), Kamal Vora (Gujarati), Prabha Varma (Malayalam), Sitanath Acharya (Sanskrit), Gobinda Chandra Majhi (Santhali), Nand Javeri (Sindhi) and Papineni Sivasankar (Telugu).
